oh how people fall and fall for popular culture and what is in and what is not. perceived as fun and great and popular, people buy the latest trends so they can be well, trendy. and of course im not saying im not a part of this. in fact i relish in it, and everytime im in a foreign country i search for trends, and discover how trends manifest itself into popularity.
if i see it enough maybe ill want it.
in vietnam i wanted sandal socks
in hong kong i wanted those overly flowered backpacks.
but at least im aware that trends are trends. in fact they are set early on in the season by who else, the people at the top. if they say "bohemian" is the next big thing, before you know it, the big labels that people shop at the most, H&M, Forever 21, etc etc. follow those trends. and everything and everywhere will be bohemian.
this changes the word stylish. does stylish mean that you go to the store and buy the latest trend? or come up with something of your own? what if what you come up with is something in the store?
