wow.

day three it is.
and what a rush it has been.

taxis that don't know how to stop. loud walk lights. mosquito bites. nice old people who deal with my broken mandarin. super cool people from everywhere. scenester hong kong kids whose hair i will never be able to duplicate. realizing that fashion is stolen from people here. interpreting accents. being lost together. global lounge. mcdonald's 25 cent ice cream. thinking in numbers and currency. seeing so many people. being sweaty. showering twice a day. cosmopolitan lites.small minivans that just stop and go wherever you can. laughing. being scared. being so american.tourism.octopus card.loving food. registering.islands.breathtakingviews.funnyconversations.

i sorta find it a compliment that i look hong kong enough that people speak to me in Cantonese. maybe it's the hair.

(stopped by a student doing a survey)

Me: Oh, I'm sorry I don't speak cantonese.
Him: Oh it's okay where are you from?
Me: U.S.A.
Him: Oh so you're an ABC.
Me: WHAT?
Him: You're an ABC, American Born Chinese.

:O

---

what i think about the most tho (other than my loverfaces in berkeley and back home) is my weird attraction/excitement to things that are american. maybe its the comfort of seeing something familiar. or the feeling of security. or knowing that these places will have bathrooms for sure.

mcdonalds.kfc.yoshinoya.H&M.Ikea.

hahaha. oh me.
